Piano | Theory

Ms Linley is a pianist, harpist and orchestral player. She leads a diverse musical life where her enthusiasm for music is coupled with strong dedication to education. Currently, she is teaching piano and harp at Harmonie Music Centre, inspiring students from all ages to learn music.

Having begun her music training at the age of six on the piano, she has since attained the Trinity Grade 8 certificate for both piano and violin, and the Trinity Associate Diploma for harp. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium under the Advanced Performance strand, and has received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence throughout her degree. Highlights of her performance career – now focused on the harp – include twice winning the Una Morgan Harp Competition, casual work with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and recent tour with the Asian Youth Orchestra.

Linley’s passion for teaching music stems from the capacity of music to transform and empower lives. She strives to bring to her students the broader benefits of creative thinking, cognitive development, and character building while helping to shape their unique musical identities. In the past 5 years, she has taught students ranging from young children to adults, using both English and Chinese, and has successfully prepared them for Trinity, ABRSM and AMEB examinations.

Besides teaching in Brisbane, Linley has also founded and directs an orchestral training program in her hometown, Miri, Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, earning her the Runner-up of the Queen’s Young Leaders Award 2016 in recognition of her initiative and contribution to the local community.

My son has been taking piano and guitar lessons for more than a year. He loves his teachers and I can tell that they really care about my kid too. Harmonie music centre is wonderful and I highly recommend.

I am most grateful that my son's guitar teacher not only makes learning fun and shares his knowledge, but his passion for music as well. I could not have found a better place for him to learn guitar.
